Pharmacy issues at Rowlands, HMC site.

We would like to apologise on behalf of Rowlands Pharmacy LTD who rent space in the medical centre and handle many of the prescriptions we generate. Due to significant staff changes there have been significant delays and problems handling prescriptions in the recent weeks. This has led to long waits for medications, lost prescriptions and other problems. From the 1st February 2018, between 1.00 and 2.00pm, you will not be able to collect medication from Rowlands Pharmacy at Harcourt Medical Centre if a pharmacist is not on site (e.g. during his or her lunch/comfort break). We apologise for any inconvenience.

Dr Miles Thomas to Retire

After 30 years as a GP I will be retiring on 28.2.18

It has been both challenging and very rewarding to work in a number of very different situations both overseas and in the UK and to finish the last 5 years of my career at Harcourt.

It has been a privilege to be your GP in recent years and I wish you all the best for the future.

I am pleased to be able to leave you in good hands with my successor Dr Julian Totman who is moving from another Salisbury practice to take over my list of patients at Harcourt.

Flu Vaccination 2017

Booking NOW - FLU Clinics Saturdays 7th and 14th October 2017. Flu vaccination is available every year on the NHS to help protect adults and children at risk of flu and its complications. Toilet refurbishment late September 2017

The toilets will be temporarily closed in late September for two weeks. We apologise for the inconvenience. Free toilets are available in the car park outside the medical centre.

This work will very much improve the facilities for patients.

Drs Nathan & Hannah Francis to leave in September 2017

After working at the practice for over 3 years Dr Hannah and Nathan Francis are relocating to a Dorset practice. We wish them well for the future.

Dr Louise Campbell, who trained here at the medical centre and has provided regular locum cover, will provide care for their patients until a new arrangement is formalised.

We apologise for yet another change in staff, this is a very difficult time for recruitment in NHS General Practice, and we hope to have more news on a permanent GP solution soon.

Harcourt Medical Centre is working towards becoming a dementia friendly practice

All staff have received extra training. Dr Ben Kay awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners

We are pleased to announce that Dr Ben Kay has been awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

RCGP fellowship is awarded in recognition of a significant contribution to medicine in general and general practice in particular.

Best and worst GP surgeries in Wiltshire revealed

WILTSHIRE'S best and worst doctor's surgeries have been named in a new patient satisfaction survey.

Harcourt Medical Practice in Salisbury came in third with 98 per cent.

Dr Markey to retire in April 2014

It is a great privilege being a family GP, providing one-to-one care over the years. Since I started at Harcourt in January 1987 I have watched families grow, shared in their good times and stood alongside them and served in the difficult ones. Dr Thorne retires from Harcourt on 24th October 2013.

Dr Thorne has been at Harcourt for over 15 years and has decided that the time is right for a career break and an adult ‘gap year’. “Since qualifying as a doctor in 1981, I have seen many changes in the NHS, particularly in general practice. Working at Harcourt has brought many rewards as well as challenges. Goodbye Dr Pickup

After four very successful years at Harcourt, Dr Pickup is following her dream of becoming a village GP.

She leaves to become a GP partner at Shrewton (Till Orchard surgery) this week.

We wish her well in her new adventure but are sad to see her leave us.

Harcourt Medical Centre is moving medical software provider this June, from EMIS to SystemOne.

As a result of this change you will no longer be able to use EMISaccess to order repeat prescriptions.

EMIS Access will cease to function on Friday 8th June.

The new service will come online Monday 2nd July and can be found at:

The good news is that your EMISaccess login details will be migrated to the new system, see the prescriptions page for more details.

Play Park Petition

The patients and health care team at Harcourt Medical Centre wholeheartedly endorse the provision of play park facilities for children in Elizabeth Gardens. Salisbury City Council has acknowledged our concern that the Elizabeth Gardens play park immediately next to the six consulting rooms of doctors, nurses, psychologists and midwives and their patients is causing a problem. We are pleased to welcome Dr Eleanor Bessant to the practice. She will be joining the team after completing her hospital posts to finish her training as a GP. Dr Bessant will be attached to the practice for twelve months.

New Phone system!

We appreciate getting through on the telephone can sometimes be difficult, especially at peak times (such as when the surgery opens at 0800 for book-on-day appointments ) In view of this we have invested in upgrading the phone system, this will be taking place in the near future and will offer the following features: > the ability to speak to a receptionist in the morning from 0800 (previously 0800-0815 was reserved for emergency calls only) > upgrading the number of available telephone lines coming into the surgery from the current 3 ..... click here to read the full article

Extended Access - launched September 2008

We are delighted to offer new 'extended access' appointments providing increasing convenience and flexibility for our patients.

These additional appointments run at the following times and can be booked during normal working hours. We hope they will particularly help patients who find making an appointment during the working day difficult but of course are open to all our patients.
