** UPDATE 04.12.20: Despite NHS England advising us that further flu vaccine will be available for 50-64 years we have only been given an additional 100 vaccines (Flublok), we have been told there is no scope for more being supplied. Clearly this is very disappointing - we are still able to book an additonal 10 patients at this time **
1. Flu clinics have started and are ongoing - please use the accurRx admin query tool (on front page) to contact us for the current clinic dates
2. The clinics will be at the Harcourt Medical Centre site.
3. We will be offering separate clinics for children and adults with additional needs (such as wheelchair access).
This is going to be a flu vaccination year like no other, due to COVID19 we need to maintain good social distancing to reduce the risk to everyone.
The way it will work:
Book an appointment in the working week – we will not be able to carry out ad-hoc vaccination at the weekend clinics
Arrive a few minutes before your clinic time and report to a flu-marshal outside in the car park who will check you off as ‘arrived’ and ask you to join the queue down the left side of the building. You will need to have your preferred arm ready for vaccination as we will not be using clinical rooms this year, rather an open ‘lane’ system
You will enter the premises from the rear of the building, check in on arrival and join a small queue inside prior to your vaccination; you will leave via the main entrance.
On the day:
Think about your clothing – you will not be able to change on the premises – short sleeves
Do not come if you are unwell – think about COVID19 – fever/cough/loss of smell etc.
Please come on your own if you can.
The toilets will not be open during the flu clinic
The building will be deep cleaned after the vaccination session
If you are in the new age group (50-64), we will not be offering vaccinations until the end of November/December.
Update from NHS Engalnd: 50-64 year olds requesting a flu vaccination in 20/21: Whilst we’ve received information that all 50-64 year olds may be eligible for a free flu vaccination as part of plans to protect more people against seasonal flu, these free vaccinations will be subject to delivery later in the year.
This allows us (GP’s and community pharmacists) to focus on those who are in an at risk group, such as pregnant women and people with long term health conditions. They will be given priority and offered the vaccine first; if you are in this category you will be contacted.
